A Less-Hurried Approach to Homeschooling Young Children

What’s wrong with this picture? A big stack of textbooks and workbooks for your five-year-old. Tears from your six-year-old after he has been sitting at the kitchen table for three long hours "doing school." The seven-year-old doesn’t seem to “get it” when you try to teach her math, or she forgets on Tuesday what you taught her on Monday. Unfortunately, some of these very scenerios were played out in our own home before God really got ahold of my seeking heart and began to transform my vision of what home education is really all about. Some of the Bluedorn's other resources, especially their book Teaching the Trivium (below) were instrumental in that transformation. NOTE: When I began home educating our children, I was very leery of anthing that looked like "unschooling." The Bluedorns are not advocating a lazy or haphazard approach to education; but instead a well thought out, well researched, and highly practical way of approaching the "what to teach when" issue.

In this audio workshop, the Bluedorns map out Ten Important Things to Study Before Age Ten, cover the history and research behind when to begin teaching children formal math and English grammar, and discuss a simple daily schedule, along with a bibliography of resources for studying less-hurried early academics.

We highly recommend this and all of the Bluedorn's other materials!!!
