Do-it-yourself phonics cleverly disguised as a puzzle! This set features 26 puzzles - one for each letter of the alphabet. Each puzzle has two pieces. One piece has a pop-out letter of the alphabet, and the other has a pop-out of a familiar object. The goal (besides having fun!) is to match the letter pieces to the object pieces. They are self-correcting, which means that only the correct sets will fit together. The objects each start with the correct phonetic sound of the matching letter. It is a pet peeve of mine when phonics toys like this don’t actually utilize phonetic sounds. I’ve seen phonics toys/books where the letter A is represented by the word airplane. Yes, airplane does start with an a, but it isn’t phonetically correct. Here you will see apple for A, octopus for O, etc.
All of the pieces are made of Lauri’s soft, appealing crepe rubber and store neatly in the included plastic storage box.
This set is a tremendous value with many applications, and will be most enjoyed by children ages 3 and up.
