I cried when I read this book for the first time. It is illustrated by Johannah Bluedorn, (daughter of Laurie and Harvey Bluedorn, whose book Teaching the Trivium can be found in our classical resources section), but it was written by God. This book is the 127th Psalm put into a picture book format. The 127th Psalm is the Psalm that speaks of children being an heritage from the Lord, and of the Lord building our homes, and so on. Each page of this book contains a line or two of KJV scripture with unspeakable touching pictures. At the end of a book there is a double page spread of sheet music for the 127th Psalm put to music. I have never, ever seen a children's book that affirms the family and the blessing of children as does this one. How often can your children see a book filled with pictures of large, happy families, fathers praying with their children, children rejoicing at the arrival of a new sibling, and more?
We love to collect books that are nothing but illustrated Bible passages. When a child hears a beloved book read over and over, he (and his mommy!) memorize it effortessly. My children have memorized a number of Bible passages through this sort of book. We are so blessed to be able to add this incredible book to our collection. My children do not want to put it down!
